Reply To: AWA Loses in Pennsylvania’s Highest Court

I noticed these changes over this past weekend at the PSP website:

Act 10 of 2018 was signed into law on February 21, 2018. Act 10 substantially changes registration requirements for certain sexual offenders in Pennsylvania. Sexual offenders whose offense was committed before December 20, 2012 may see their registration requirement change. The Pennsylvania State Police, Megan’s Law Section is in the process of reviewing the registration files of these offenders. This group of offenders may see their registration requirement reduced to a ten-year term, remain as a lifetime registrant, or be terminated.

These offenders are no longer subject to the Tier scheme regarding length of registration and reporting frequency requirements. The Pennsylvania State Police is mailing correspondence to the affected offenders to explain the new requirements.

Users of this site may see minor changes to the registration information of the affected offenders. This will only be temporary until system upgrades are made to accommodate the requirements of the new law.

The Pennsylvania State Police is now offering an Electronic Notification System. This system will allow a user to sign-up to receive email notification(s) that are specific to their selection of the following email notification options:

Receive update(s) for sexual offenders whom have changed their Pennsylvania residence, employment, or school information located within the designated radius of the address(s) that was selected by the recipient.
Monitor / track a specific sexual offender and receive email notification(s) when certain changes occur for the sexual offender on the website.

*Our service uses email as a primary notification mechanism. If you don’t have an email address, we DO NOT send direct mail or text information at this time.

To register to receive electronic notifications click the Register link at the top of the page. To access an existing account select the Log In link at the top of the page.

The Search Offenders tab located at the top of the page allows you to search for offenders by county, municipality, city, zip code, mile radius, name, non-compliant offenders, Sexually Violent Predators, Sexually Violent Delinquent Children, and transient offenders.

The Pennsylvania State Police does not provide information on certain Sexually Violent Predators, Sexually Violent Delinquent Children, or sexual offenders who are currently incarcerated for a sexual offense and have not met the legal requirement for Megan’s Law registration. The Pennsylvania State Police does provide information on previously registered Sexually Violent Predators, Sexually Violent Delinquent Children or sexual offenders who are re-incarcerated for a parole or probation violation or for a new crime.

The listing on this website is only for the individuals currently registered with the Pennsylvania State Police as active sexual offenders pursuant to Pennsylvania ’s Megan’s Law. This website does not list information for every individual ever arrested or convicted of a sex-related offense.

Accuracy of the Information Contained within this Registry

Although the individuals listed on the sexual offender registry are initially identified through fingerprinting and photograph submission to the Pennsylvania State Police, it should be understood that positive identification of any individual whose registration record has been made available on the Internet registry can be verified only through the review of a properly executed fingerprint card. By placing this information on the Internet, no representation is being made the listed individual will commit any specific crime in the future, nor is any representation being made that if the individual commits an offense, one of the listed offenses will be the offense committed. The Pennsylvania State Police, Megan’s Law Section, verifies and updates this information regularly to ensure it is complete and correct. Although efforts have been made to ensure the information is as accurate as possible, no guarantee is made or implied. You are cautioned that information provided on this site may not reflect the current residence, status, or other information regarding an offender.
