How you think of yourself determines who you are
Good Monday Morning, Everyone!
It’s going to warm up this week here in my neck of the woods, and that makes it an even better time to share and be creative.
Can I say I am bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning? A friend of mine said that backwards the other day and it made me laugh.
It’s good when friends laugh together; it’s not good when people refer to someone on a sexual offense registry as a sex offender. That language has to change, and here on Connections and NARSOL we are doing just that.
We must consider what we believe we are. I am not a sex offender or a sexual offender. I am a US citizen required to register, and I am not currently offending but rather someone who has made a critical thinking error in my past, and I refuse to refer to myself as anything other than that. As a collective we must change the way we think about who we are and the language we use when talking about our status and requirement to register.
Instead of sex offender, use words like registrant or person required to register. Use sexual offense registry instead of sex offender registry. It’s really simple when you start to change the way you think about what they say you are.
I know who I am, do you?
Today’s image is of a female cardinal. Who says she is not beautiful? She is who she is and she makes no excuses for it. We are all beautiful in our own way. If it wasn’t for her, the male would never have his color. I think she did that on purpose.
