Good Thursday Morning, Everyone,

WOW! I woke up to five inches of fresh snow this morning, and it is so beautiful.

Little surprises come in many forms. Sometimes they are great gifts, and other times they bring sadness and despair. When these unexpected things happen, we have a choice to make: either stop in our tracks or push through. Sometimes Good is hidden in what we see as bad.

I remember the day I went to jail to start my seven year sentence. I was scared, confused and had no idea what to expect. I was pushed into a situation I had no control over, and then I did.

Even though I was behind bars, locked down 23 / 7, I had options; I could get involved in the craziness or choose a different path. I chose one that I created myself, one that was focused and determined, and I spent my time building my future with each choice I made behind their bars. I made it through that, better than I was before, because I chose to be, not because I was told to be or made to be.

Not everyone has opportunities like this or are in situations that allow them to strive to excel. This is where you have to make a choice, find what you can do to improve, or stay stuck in your past.

Sometimes the surprise of something being hard, is exactly what you needed to create a new life.

Today’s image was captured yesterday afternoon as I was out taking photos of birds. I was sitting behind a small bush to camouflage myself, and all of a sudden this red-billed woodpecker landed right in front of me, I was so surprised. I fired off a few frames and he was gone.
