By Terry . . . Good Monday morning, everyone,

Here we go…the week begins and even with all the snow and ice we may encounter this week, it’s still a great day to share and be creative.

Have you ever considered what being a friend is?

Recently, a friend of mine has been going through some really hard stuff. They are in a situation where they have to make some very hard choices. It hurts me to see them go through this, and my first instinct is to offer my opinion or suggestions that might help; that’s a good idea right?

NO

Many times as a friend, we need to just listen because many times all that person needs is for you to listen. When we start offering all kinds of suggestions, we can confuse them and anger them, and that is not what a true friend does.

I know that many people who are listed on a sexual offense registry have limited friends, and the ones they do have they need to cherish,  and they might need to learn how to listen more and talk less — but this really applies to everyone, doesn’t it?

Have you ever heard the sound of a sunrise? This panorama was captured in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. It was a cold fall morning on Clingmans Dome, and as I watched the sun peak over the horizon, I heard my first sunrise — the light breeze brushing across the landscape, whistling and whirling, with the quiet of the morning revealing the mountains in all their glory.

Let’s take time to listen.

Have a wonderful day.
