New study being done

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Melissa Grady, and I am a faculty member at the Catholic University of America’s National Catholic School of Social Service. I along with my colleague Jill Levenson, professor at Barry University in Florida, are conducting a study aimed at understanding the role of trauma and later sexual offending.

There are two surveys associated with this study. The first is one for practitioners who work with individuals who have sexually offended (ISOs). The second survey is for ISOs who have received treatment focused on this issue.

For clinicians and practitioners:

You are being contacted as someone who works in this field, and we are hoping that you will help with this study in two ways. The first is that you will participate in this web-based survey that should take approximately 15 minutes. The second is that you will pass this on to ISOs who may be willing to participate in the study, which should take approximately 15-20 minutes.

In addition, we would very much appreciate it if you would send this on to other clinicians you know who work with ISOs and to any potential ISOs. A full consent form is included in each of the surveys, as well as more information regarding risks and benefits.

For those who have offended and received treatment:

You are being contacted as someone who has potentially had a history of sexually offending, and we are hoping that you will help with this study in two ways. The first is that you will participate in this web-based survey that should take approximately 15 -20 minutes. The second is that you will pass this on to other ISOs who may be willing to participate in the study.

A full consent form is included in each of the surveys, as well as more information regarding risks and benefits.
