Action alert: Be on guard against scams targeting registrants

2/27/19: Adding North Carolina. Repeating the warning: If you get a call from someone saying he is with law enforcement, that you are out of compliance, or overdue, or anything to do with your registration status and that he can help you take care of it, it is a scam. Hang up and call your registry office or local law enforcement. This has been going on for well over a year. We have just today gotten word that it is operating in Pennsylvania.

Variations have developed where registrants are called and told a family member is arrested and needs help. Be on the alert no matter what state you are in. Reported in Virginia: https://wtvr.com/2019/03/26/scammed-sex-offenders-call-virginia-state-police-for-help/
