This is so so hard to watch. It’s so insane. The more I hear about what these laws are about and how the American public has bought all the lies and distortions about sex offenders and the registry.
Thank you Lenore Skenazy for all you do and thank you to NARSOL too.
I have two sons on the registry. My mentally ill son was falsely accused many years ago. He was in his thirties and moved to a really bad neighborhood in Maryland called Pigtown. A child was given the idea to lie by her grandmother and a neighborhood watchwoman who thought my son looked “weird” and that was at least partly related to his illness because he was too friendly. He fell in love with a prostitute who was 17 who used him for his social security money and her sister was the child who lied. This girl was very close to her older sister who was on drugs, as was her mother (both ended up dying of OD’s) and the girl was jealous of the time she spent with my son who was in his early 30’s and so she lied and said he did something sexual to her. The Baltimore City Paper did 5 stories about my son and the third was when this girl admitted to a PG County ex-homicide commander that she lied and “it felt so good to tell the truth” and my son “was the nicest person you’d ever want to meet”. The girl grew up, gave a strong deposition but the Baltimore States Attorney was totally disinterested. There was NO other evidence. My son never had more than a traffic ticket. He is in his 50’s and STILL on the registry.
My other son was in his 30’s, was immature and had sex with a 15 yr. old prostitute who lied to him about her age, acted older. When they were caught, she told the police she wanted to be with my son and lied to them about her age. But, my son got his first felony and is in his 50’s and still on the registry. My son was wrong but now my son has his own son and was given complete custody of his son and is doing a great job but has had to move because of gossip and harrassment by neighbors and the cops. He lost the best job he ever had. His boss told him if he ever got the felony reduced he could have his job back. My grandson’s mother was a poor choice too (which is why my son got full custody in spite of being on the registry), so my son’s an idiot but he’s never physically harmed anyone. And is someone reading this thinks my son harmed that girl, the prostitute, even her mother said this girl”acted much older” and was “out of control”.

I’ve come to know more about these laws than I care to but I cannot believe how bad they are and how so many Americans believe all the lies about MOST on the registry…and almost no one knows or cares how bad, how unfair they are.
So, thankyou Lenore and NARSOL AND the other reasonable people out there who care about making our laws more rational and fair. I’m 77 and only hope before I die I will see my sons lives improved and less full of risk. I worry about them (and now my grandson) every day.

Lenore, I know its hard on you and I do feel for you and everyone that uses this mental issue thing against one plus the fact that the girl said something to police. Sure police are going to believe a woman before a man and as you say its not right. That’s just like even a married woman today calling sexual abuse on another out of spite at the time or some other trivial matter.
While I know it is wrong just like these sex offenders a lot has to do with standing up as NARSOL is doing for those others along with other advocates. Being underhanded is being underhanded. And yes I understand about the social security thing also as a friend of mind was used by a women just like that. One night they both got into a fight she busted his head wide open with a bottle and cops came and took them both to jail.. She was on probation and so was he also.
I sort of got mixed up with that but not to the extent is he was. But on the sex duping issue and the relation with the prostitution one has to use a different measure in that issue. See they (the law ) didn’t seem to show any compassion for the guy with his mental affliction but honored the prostitution’s cry so to speak.
See it all goes to show you that they will believe the woman before the man in that situation and other situations like the “Me too” movement”
Here’s the point I’m trying to make when law enforcement get involved in all this personal stuff its not a pretty picture. You know I can’t even understand a lot about these internet sting computer ordeals as it seems people don’t care about others and don’t show compassion or share each others burdens like some should.
Even women at times feel like screaming that someone took advantage of them, and it seems like this woman took advantaged of him in a certain way.
I hope is some way that you all can address the courts again and get some type of adjustment in this situation and talk to this prostate gal and have her come to realize the harm this is doing to others and also her conscious if she really cares about others. See its all about caring about others but the police don’t see it that way.
In actually they are predicting down the road that this might happen again.
I was looking over some of my plea agreement and some of my court papers and there was a check mark about recidivism and it was checked unlikely. I think there is five or six category’s and of course they have to say probable on some of them to make it look good. I wonder if we all could say probable on whether we wake up or not tomorrow according to the bible.

While I wanted to post to these two ladies and the CATO conference thing, I was also touched by this lady with her son that was of a slight mental capacity. Yes while parents have their problems and this sex issue has came upon all of us via some of this internet challenging and into todays America plus these other issues such as the teenagers exploring each others and kids playing doctor or this dating issue and of course this sex issue as a whole I commend them.. Sure motivation by these two ladies is the key to help inform.
Yes we all should stand up whether one use’s biblical principals or human wisdom or has stand up like Martin Luther King. People a lot of this is discrimination in the form of a sexual nature. Call it a behavior matter,, or call it weakness of the flesh, or those in high places taking advantage of their position. We all need to address this issue.
Even governments need to address this issue.
A lot of this issue is about attitude and character of each and ever individual. Do we all have to go around judging one another and if they don’t act according to the status quo they are expendable. Do we all have to wear the label of sex offender the rest of our lives.
Should we all wear the label I’m a murder the rest of our lives and let others know our past or should we all wear the label sinner? I remember my sister an me got into it and she got me down and slapped me on the back and beat me because she said , are you calling me a sinner. I said no, the bible is. Its like people don’t want to admit that they are a sinner but they will pas judgment on others in a heart beat if you offend them.
I believe your “Make room for the Debate” needs to be address to and these government need to be a part of it and listen. They have no idea what some of these people are going thru that were caught up in all this or duped in a lot of this ordeal. I also think a theme song would be nice here’s one if you chose one …. One tin Soldier … and I don’t think any of us are made of tin… but you get the meaning … Go for it NARSOL

People call themselves professionals and do not use proper words or contexts! They are ex offenders and the courts were never allowed to do a generic psychological evil…Ahem ! Eval (evaluation) And be pushed into prison, so easily without Good, adequate council toooo prevent this garbage law systems SILLY, STUPID AND DANGEROUS UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OF THE RIGISTRY ANSWERS ! THE LAW IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DOING MOR DAMAGE THAN THE EX OFFENDERS ! ! ! HELLOOOO…..PROPER COMPENSATIONS ARE LONG OVER DUE…..BOTH MONITARY AND LEGALY, AS WELL AS. CIVILY AND SO FORTH ! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND PATHETIC ATTEPT TO EXPLAIN THE EFFECTS ON CITIZENS! HAVE YOU HEARD WHAT THE REGISTRY IS ALL ABOUT ! YES ! WE ARE LIVING IN IT ! THE LAW SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO BE ESTABLISHED WITHOUT GOOD SOUND DEBATES AND PRROFESSIONAL REVIEWS DUH ! DOUBLE DUH ! WE THE PEOPLES ( DEFFENDANTS) WERE NOT AND ARE NOT GIVEN EUAL CONSIDERATIONS AT SENTENCING AND AFTER TO ESTABLISH A NON- THREAT NON DANGEROUS ETC. STATUS ! HELLOOOO ! IT IS NOT HARD TO SEE THAT THE COURTS ARE HELL BENT ON DEFINING, LABELING, TRACKING, TARGETING AND SO ON MEN SPECIFICALLY AS ENEMY #1. THE REGISTRY HAPPENED BECAUSE A LAZY GREEDY LEGAL SYSTEM FOUND THE VICTIMHOOD MANTALITY IS AN EASY MONEY MAKER AND THE ANTI-MALE CULTURE WITH ITS UNBALANCED SEXUAL POLITICS HEARS ONLY ONE SIDE OF STORY WITHOUT DUE PROCESS (Costly to fed, state ) THAT GIVES ONLY THE IMMEDIATE PICTURE OF THE PERPETRATOR AND NOT A SENSIBLE REAL OVERALL PICTURE OF THE PERSON BEING CHARGED!

Lenore is such a beautiful soul, I love her sense of humor meets sarcasm. Her speech was both inspiring and informative and hopefully every parent in America sees this video. Nice to hear Utah may be the first state to enact a free range kid law, which is currently before the senate to vote. If it passes, I hope she does a presentation here because I would be happy to help make that happen. Any exposure to the unjust shame list is better than nothing.

    Mr. Tim Lawver

You might be a sex offender when your actually not!

    Ask:
    Mr. Abbitt, NC
    Mr. Abidal, NY
    Mr. Agnew
    Mr. McCullough
    Mr. Payne
    Mr. Davis
    Mr. Mrs. Keller, TX

I am sorry people, but this pod cast must be called out the young lady saying unintended effects of Megan’s law/SORNA, IML ETC….. PIZZIS ME OFF ! The family and officials New exactly what they were doing and did not give a shiiiiiit about anyone else except their cause ! IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT PEOPLE DO THINGS FOR A NOBLE CAUSE, WHILE DAMAGES ARE DONE AND LIVES ARE LOST ! Everyone is accountable for what DEEDS THEY DO, ESPECIALLY IN THE NAME OF RIGHTEOUSNESS! IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THROUGHOUT HISTORY…..SOME OF THE WORST HUMAN TRAGEDIES HAPPEN JUUUUUUST THE WAY MEGENS LAW HAS ! ROE VS WADE….THE WOMAN DID NOT GIVE ONE IOTA CARE ABOUT THE BABIES LIFE AND SURE AS HEEEELLLL DID NOT RESPECT MENS RIGHTS! TODAY SHE IS VEHEMENTLY AGAINST ABORTION ! Many other cases I will not get into ! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR PROMOTING AND PUSHING FOR LAWS THAT ARE BIAS, PREJUDICE AND DISCRIMINATION BASED ! IF YOU RUN TO A POILICE OFFICER AND SAY THESE PEOPLE RAPED ME ! THE WAY IT IS PRESENTED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL CARRY A HEAVY TAXATION ON THE OVERBROAD CLASS OF PEOPLE AND IT WAS DELIBERATE IN ITS EXECUTION ! IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT APPROACHING THE JUDICIARY BRANCH MUST BE ACCURATE AND BALANCED FOR ALL PARTIES! MEGENS LAW AND THE OTHERS WERE ROTTEN TO THE CORE FROM THE INCEPTION ! THE CRITERIA THAT HOLDS TO SOLID FOUNDATIONS OF BOTH SOCIAL AND JUDICIAL REASONING AND CREDIBILITY AS WELL AS LEGALLY ACCORDING TO OUR U.S. CONSTITUTION WAS SEVERELY SKEWED (twisted) ! THE COURTS HAVE NOT BEEN HONEST AND SCIENTIFICALLY SOUND IN REASONING AND DEFINITIVE PROOF AS TO THE CORRECT ASSESSMENT AND ACTUAL THREAT BASED OF ONE CRIME OR STACKING OF CHARGES TO GIVE THE MISLEADING PROGNOSIS OF PERSONS CHARGED, THOUGH A PERSON DOES BAD THINGS, DOES NOT EQUATE TO DELIBERATE MOTIVES WHICH COURTS JUMP TO VERY QUICK CONCLUSIONS OR FINALIZED PUNISHMENTS IMPOSED WITHOUT FURTHER IN-DEPTH UNBIASED PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE!

Exactly, I am so happy to see that there is attention being given to both sides of this issue. The sex offender registry and all of the laws that followed are so out of control. I live in Florida one of the worst states to live in if you’re on the registry. My son is on the registry, he will be for life, he at age 17 viewed child porn via Lime wire. The law enforcement officer waited 4 months to arrest him, he ended up spending a total of 4 years in prison. In the past we have had officers show up at our door to do a compliance check, some have been very rude. I have broken no laws, yet they treated me horribly. Today my son answered our door, to 3 sheriff’s car’s then the deputy used the radio to call for a 4th car with a SWAT officer in it. What they wanted they quickly checked his ID even though he had just last month reregistered. After quickly checking the ID, he was asked where he worked? He answered, they then said Ok, and left. Four cars one being SWAT officer to ask where he worked. The reason he has been thinking of changing jobs to a better job, and also of buying a truck. He did a “what if” loan app to see if he changed jobs, if he could get a loan to buy the truck. Our tax dollars at work. When he was sentenced the Judge, the public defender, and a probation officer all said that my son was not a danger, he was “young and dumb”. While the registry was well intended, it has failed. It has never been shown to “protect” anybody, it is shown to do harm to those registered and their families. Their children are targeted for assaults, harassment, and bullying. It has made 1000’s homeless, it has torn families apart. Our country wants fathers/mothers to be actively involved in their children’s lives. These laws make that impossible. We desperately need to reform them, each day we add more and more people, we add more and more laws. I am a great admirer of Patty Wetterling, and find it encouraging that she can that she is speaking out against it. While my son is a registered sex offender, I also have two daughters one was drugged and raped at age 19, her two rapists were never charged. My youngest daughter was groomed and raped at age 15, her rapist never charged. My daughters although victims, are not broken forever. My youngest daughter walked out of her criminal justice class in protest of the sex offender laws. She has seen first hand both sides and she knows that the laws are unfair, and she says they are wrong. But I live in hopes that one day my son will have a life, and that he will be able to not live in fear for his life for something he did at age 17.
