This mother and feminist opposes recalling Judge Persky over Brock Turner case

I am a mother, a teacher, a feminist, an advocate for racial justice, and I would like to add my voice to those opposing the recall of Judge Aaron Persky for the sentencing of Brock Turner.

The recall will not make us safer as women, and it will likely make it harder for people of color with no outside advocates to receive fair, compassionate treatment in our judicial system.

I come to my decision from a very personal experience. Three years ago, a close childhood friend of my son’s, I’ll call him Mario, was charged with felony sexual assault and attempted rape. I struggled mightily with my abhorrence for the crime and my love for Mario — and I chose love.

I did not in any way condone what Mario had done . . . (Source)
