RSOL ACTION ALERT: Most of you know the story; a dying veteran, Greg Poston. and his family were granted his lifetime dream of seeing the Grand Canyon by the Dream Foundation. When the Foundation discovered he had a sex offense in his past, they revoked his portion of the dream. He had paid in full for his crime, but community members, advocates for his former victims, persuaded them he was not “worthy,” and they withdrew his portion of the gift. Intervention by Ohio and by National RSOL accomplished nothing. The family has now cancelled the plans for the rest of them, choosing not to go if he couldn’t go. It is too late for Greg and his brother Roger, also dying of cancer, and their siblings, but it is not too late for us to express our indignation at this action. Either by phone or by email, contact the Dream Foundation and the media outlets in Dayton, Ohio that ran the stories. Flood their switchboards and in-boxes. Tell them that when a debt has been paid, there should be no discrimination, no continued punishment, that what they did was wrong and there should be a public apology. Please keep your communication civil and respectful whether you are contacting a media source or the Dream Foundation.
